Down but not out.

It's been a tough week. I've been having trouble putting everything into perspective. A good friend died unexpectedly last week. We attended her funeral on Friday. I then spent the weekend with my friends who were all close with her. After moving away I still keep in touch with my friends but only see them once every few months. But of course this time was different.
I am a hopeless wreck and the only thing that will help me is time. Time that now seems so precious and short. Or does it? I feel like it should. But how do I know that it really will in the long run. I have my doubts.

On to other happenings. It rained and sleeted and snowed about 10+inches over the weekend. So lots of downed power lines from tree limbs breaking under the weight of the ice and snow. Fun times were had shoveling out cars and chainsaw wielding amateurs cutting up trees so the city would eventually plow out street.

Then the sickness set in. My head filled up with mucus and I was home for the first 2 days of the week in bed. I'm back at work today, not sure I should be but someones got to pay the rent.

**After I started writing this, I stopped to gather my thoughts. Then I read a post almost everyone had linked on their site from Miami Don's blog. All I can say is Thank You Don. I needed that.

Oh, and now it's Mookie time tonight!
Plus I almost forgot, I got 6th in last weeks riverchasers event. That puts me in the top 10 in this years standings. Groovy!

Blogger Pods 2!

I’m registered in the free BloggerPods poker tournament.
Poker Mac

I am hoping I qualify to play in this. Looks like fun.
Plus, I work for a software company that makes software for iPods and cross platform Mac stuff too. So I'm all for supporting more poker software to be ported over to the Mac.

DQB!!!

I had been complaining earlier in the day that I hadn't hit trips in a few days. Then this happened I just let her bet til she was pot committed and then I got paid.
I just can't stop playing those $8.80 tier 1 token tourneys. I'm on a streak of about 8 out of 10 with only 1 of them being on the bubble. Go Me!

Hammer Tourney and Lost!

I had a blast last night playing in the Hammer Day Tourney. 158 players!!! That's huge!
Started off with Smokkee on my right and there was not a lot of action right away.

This was the first hammer I saw anyone drop. As you can see the hammer is good on hammer day. I believe he took most of Smokkee's chips in this hand.
I didn't play many hands for the first half hour or so and then I was moved to another table.
And now I have Smokkee's better half on my right, LoveElf!
Shortly after being moved to this table the following happened.

I'm not really sure why he called me after I moved all in after the flop but it got me moving.
I also took our Miami Don by slow playing my top two pair against his top and middle pair.
I finished 13 and got a little money back but over all I was very happy with my play. I was surprised because I didn't play more than 1 hand the entire time Lost was on. I have an addiction and I'm working on it.

Happy Hammer Day!

I guess it's not exactly the biggest holiday of the year but a good one no less. Tonight should be fun with the Hammer Day tourney. But I'm not sure that the poker will be very serious, so I expect a lot of suckouts.

Last night I played in several tourneys. I won a $10 SNG that I shouldn't have. I played in a qualifier for FTOPS #3 and got to the final table and the money but didn't get the seat. And then I played in several $8.80 tourneys for a level 1 token. Wow are those easy. People are just plain dumb when it gets down toward the end.

My animated poker series is still coming along slowly but surely. If this first one works out it will be tons easier to do more. Creating all the original characters is taking quite a bit of my time. Anyone out there interested in such a project? I could use help with voice over work and just someone else to bounce ideas off. Let me know.. buddy@buddydank.com

1 rendering almost done.

Here's my dealer. He's supposed to be the joker from a deck of cards but I still need to get him wrapped to look good. I've got 6 other character to make for my animated short series and am pretty sure of what I'm doing for all of them.

I played in the 30k last night on FT after playing in the qualifier and easily making the top 9 for a seat. I'd read about it on Hoy's blog and he's always going on and on about how easy it is. Well, I only played 4 hands then entire time. Midway through the tourney I had more that double everyone else left in the thing so I just sat there and coasted into the last 2 tables. Hoy was there and we weren't at the same table but I was watching his and he made some interesting plays. But you can read about that in his blog. I have some screenshots and what not but there are at home. After all that I donked out of the 30k event very early. I was playing horribly and had some trouble transitioning from the qualifier to the main event. Live and learn, I'll do better in the future.
